Michael D. Jaffe is a founding partner of Jaffe & Velazquez, LLP.

He is a veteran litigator with deep experience handling a wide variety of insurance related matters. From the time that Mr. Jaffe founded the firm over 30 years ago, the firm has expanded to host a robust suite of legal services including trusts and estates, real estate, and all aspects of corporate litigation and transactional law. Mr. Jaffe graduated from the Hofstra University School of Law in 1980, and is admitted to practice in the State of New York.

Throughout his extensive career as a litigator, Mr. Jaffe has enjoyed considerable success representing individual and corporate clients. He has handled numerous litigated matters from inception to trial and through appeal. Mr. Jaffe has always prided himself on taking a hands-on and detail-oriented approach to discovery, motion practice, trials, and the appellate process. He has substantial experience in a wide array of practice areas, including business transactions, real estate, trusts and estates, matrimonial and criminal law. He has also served as a court appointed guardian.

Mr. Jaffe has also been a Special Professor of Law at Hofstra University’s Maurice A. Dean School of Law since 2007, where he teaches advanced courses in insurance law and administers the Insurance Litigation and Corporate Practice Program. Mr. Jaffe has had numerous publications in the New York Law Journal and has been named Insurance Man of the Year by the Chinese American Insurance Association. Mr. Jaffe is the Chair of the Board of Directors of Country-Wide Insurance Company, and a member of the American Jewish Committee, B’nai Brith International, the Brooklyn Bar Association, the Chinese American Insurance Association, the Dean’s Advisory Board of the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University, the New York County Lawyer’s Association, the New York Insurance Federation, and the New York State Bar Association.
